Review by: Kieran Fernandez

Having watched through many other superb acts, the time was fast approaching and Queens were going to hit the main stage, I managed to get a good position close up to the front. It filled up quickly and the chants for the band were louder and louder. We heard Spiders and Vingeroons on the PA and knew the time was near. Cheers went up all round when the band strolled out, thankfully Nick kept his clothes on for this set. It wasn't long before "Millionaire" was hammered out, absolute joy. Hit of the moment "Go With the Flow" came next but it was the two little gems from "Rated R" that really got things going. "Quick and to the Pointless" created mayhem and "Feel Good Hit..." carried on. "Avon" never disapoints, the drum solo in the middle a definite highlight of the set. The mood seemed to quiten a bit when "The Sky is Fallin' started, but it's one of those songs that I didn't think I'd hear, it sounds even better live. Top marks for playing it. "Leg of Lamb" was entir! ely unexpected and a pleasant surprise. It was then that Mark Lanegan strolled out and it was just a matter of what songs we would hear. A very long and well played version of "Walkin' on the Sidewalks" was what we got, followed by "Hangin' Tree" which had everyone singing. "A Song for the Dead" was guaranteed to get bodies moving. How could anyone stand still to the intense drum pounding? It was then time for "Tension Head", the opening guitar riff had everyone jumping. "This next song is about fucking" proclaimed Josh and "The Lost Art..." was what followed. A quick glance at the time and I knew there'd probably only be time for one more track. Too many beauties to choose from but current single "No One Knows" was a track that everyone recognised and could sing along to. Great way to end the best 55 minutes of my life. QOTSA are rock Gods of this world, and long may they return to our state.
