 Is It Worth It?
If this were an interview cd, then the answer would probably be yes. But it isn't and in this website's opinion, don't waste your money. This disc is "the story of the band" narrated by a British chick with poor-quality snippets of an interview with Nick interspersed among the tracks. The narration is obviously based on a very sound and very in-depth interview or two, or it is perhaps compiled from several already published interviews; it often includes annecdotes, including something Josh's grandfather supposedly told him about rock ("If you're going to write classic rock, write classic rock"). It would have been better if they'd included the interview itself. There is no info on this disc that you can't find on the web, or even on this site. Therefore, it's probably not worth your cash. Also, remember that this disc came out in 2001. It's quite out-dated in terms of the "story of the band."

1. AN INVIGORATING MAKE-OVER (this track proclaims QOTSA the next Nirvana and has them saving rock n roll)
Current darlings of the rock media, Queens of the Stone Age eschew the stone-age mentality and narrow horizons of their peers in producing unpretentious classic rock of great sophistication and power. They have given this genre of music the invigorating make-over it so badly needed.
2. FINDING YOUR DESTINY (Kyuss and Josh/Nick high school musical background)
Born and raised in Palm Desert, a place where it was easier to score drugs than hear good music, Josh Homme founded his destiny by secretly attending punk rock gigs. It wasn't long before he formed Kyuss.
3. BLUEPRINT FOR THE PERFECT BAND
After Kyuss burned out, Josh Homme linked up with Screaming Trees, giving him a platform for his talents and time to draw up a blueprint for his perfect band.
4. A NEW PERSPECTIVE
Former Kyuss members Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri reunited after their respective stints with Screaming Trees and Dwarves to form the biggest rock band since Nirvana. Queens of the Stone Age.
5. A MATURE PROGRESSION
Overflowing with adventurous hooks and rippling melodies, the group's debut disc was a mature progression from the sound of Kyuss. They left plenty of room for acid-drenched guitar jams and head banging beats, but none for big hair.
6. THE NEW KINGS OF ROCK'N'ROLL
Queens of the Stone Age's remarkable second album, Rated R, catapulted the band into the stratosphere marked Rock Legends. They graced magazine covers and grabbed the attention of both punters and crictics with this quite brilliant follow-up album.
7. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS
The year 2000 saw the band's stature grow and grow, as 'Rated R' wiped the boards with all other contenders for album of the Year in the annual retrospectives. But they refused to stand still....
8. NEW ALTERNATIVE US ROCK EXPLAINED
The all-conquering domiance of American alternative rock saw a shift towards the US for the first time since the explosion of grunge in the early nineties. We take a look at the scene that gave birth to Queens of the Stone Age and their rivals.
9. NEW AGE HEROES
The band provide colour, glamour, danger and excitement in a music scene so often devoid of such qualities. Their personalities, characters and interests make them the antithesis of so many of today's softer rock bands.
10. CONCLUSION: STANDARD BEARERS
As long as they can play music and live life to the full, Queens of the Stone Age don't see why they can't continue their meteoric rise as standard bearers of a fresh form of rock that isn't afraid to tip its hat to the masters.
